I do wish there was a 12GB RAM upgrade option for like $50, but the value proposition would still start to slip away at a higher price. The A19 Pro does have 12GB RAM so I'd imagine the 2027 Neo generation should get 12GB standard

Indeed, I was extremely hyped until I read 8 GB RAM with no option to upgrade that, the big drawback for me

When you put it that way that iMac did have an advanced panel for its time and there aren't a bunch of 5K 27" displays today to compare it to, but yeah it does seem like a lot especially given the 60Hz. It's nice to have the one-cable setup with power delivery, built in mics and speakers and everything, but definitely still a pricey monitor. I'd looooove to get the new XDR but I'm not sure I'm at my desk at home enough to warrant it -- all my content consumption is done at my OLED / surround sound system in the living room

It's not if you think about why it's that way... it's a leftover iPhone chip. They would've had to develop a new variant of that SoC just for this, adding development cost. I'm sure it'll get the A19 Pro next year, which has 12GB RAM by default
