@op just got out like 6 months ago and my QoL drastically improved. Initially joined since paying a f*** ton of money to a university in the middle of covid was not ideal to me.

Signed for 4 years, got in, thankfully got a good job that transfers well to civ side, got my degree, and dipped. No matter what you do as long as you’re associated with the military you’re either indirectly or directly supporting the suffering of others.

It messes with your head but eventually you grow numb to it. Whenever you do get out, file a VA claim. It’s f***ed that it’s our only way for somewhat free healthcare and somewhat affordable college is through the military but it’s built that why by design. I really wouldn’t be where I am now had it not have been for the military but it’s not something i’m proud of or something

Chair force is legit AFAIK. Take advantage of all the opportunities and benefits, hopefully you’re intelligent enough to do well on tests and s***, if you’ve got a specific niche you want to get into you can aim for it but don’t be surprised if you get placed in some other s*** (plenty of examples of guys wanting to do one thing and then assigned to other bs).

Air Force usually have the best/most comfortable bases, on the other hand Navy is basically guaranteed a base on water but you’ll likely be on a ship at sea cramped up.

I’d say look into it more OP. There’s lots of career avenues within the airforce. Way more options than just piloting aircraft.
