There are a lot of cool artists posted in this thread but they all just come off as side characters. I don't know how to explain it but we haven't had any main character tier artists in a minute

I hate the main character/side character s*** but i dont know how to say it any better

I get what you’re saying but I think that’s due in part to the fact that all these indie artists are coming out with less and less artist development before getting exposure.

These artists have to come into their own before they find their lane and hone in on their sound/style.

But there are some new artists bringing a lot of confidence and creativity to the table. It’s fun to watch the process

Yeah I feel you lol. Maybe a better way of putting it is that none of these niggas exactly scream "superstar" potential. I haven't seen a artist like that in awhile which really captures your interest. These days we kinda just settle for average level folks . We had Xxxtentacion, Juice WRLD, and Pop smoke the past few years who come to mind but unfortunately they all passed too early

Yep. We definitely in a drought right now. I'm hoping a new wave of talented artists comes around soon because there's too much mediocracy

ravyn lenae is really cool. black country new road is exciting. lots of great electronic s*** on the up and up.

and if frank really does make a comeback this year with really good material, it’ll be huge

last year felt like a mix between promising debuts and leftover projects from COVID, with a few nice surprises. i think the next 2-3 years will see some truly exciting s***.

just gotta keep in mind that we haven’t had a boring overall decade for music ever if you know where to look. but the landscape is always changing
