Just got a MPC key 37

I read a lot about it / the limitations, but honestly it’s been perfect for me. I’m more of a key player anyway and wanted something I can use on my patio/couch

Was looking at the live 2 cause it’s battery powered but really wanted the keys.

It’s my first mpc, I’ve made music on a computer / daw since 2007 but I lost inspiration

The MPC brought it back. Way less distractions and it forces you to just focus on the music

i want to get a one or a live 2 cause i work on a computer all day and it makes me not want to use a computer to make music. but im afraid both of these options will remind me of using a computer with how daw-ish the screens are

Had a similar feeling and was also debating on the live 2. It’s amazing. But I got the key 37 instead and I’m not regretting it one bit. Does not remind me of a computer at all, and I can produce while I work without needing my personal pc and all the extra gear (audio interface, monitors, etc)

Ima stick w my OG live and the 2.0 software. Thats perfection to me.

Went through this myself a few years ago. Completely rewired my brain switching to the MP. Doesn’t feel like a computer at all. You can’t beat the hands on feeling that hardware brings.

3.0 looks like too much I’m still on 2.0 myself

It sucks they used the newer plugins to kinda force people to update,

I haven’t even peeped the new plug ins. What’s new? I don’t even have Air Flavor Pro

Go check out your activations tab, akai let some go for free a while ago so you can just go and activate it

Other than that they released some new plugins that only work with 3.0
The first set of newer plugins work on the last versions of 2.xx

Flex Beat is one that I got for free as well as some others, I cant remember why

i just got my mpc out of storage after a few months and my headphone jack is loose. have you (or anyone else here) ever repaired one?

Did you make sure the plastic nut is tight?

yeah I wanna do it myself - useful skill to have but I need a soldering kit. curious what the price difference is in getting it repaired locally versus diy.

which one are you referring to?

If your sound is working perfectly on that jack tightening that should help, if you are having sound issues then you will either need to resolder the jack or buy a replacement jack

It’s the 1/8” headphone jack that’s giving me problems. Wear and tear from too many plug and play setups haha

Y'all seen the new basic MPC that leaked?

Old MPC sample focused workflow, none of the extra bells & whistles of the modern MPCs, strictly for sampling, sequencing and effects

Portable with a built in rechargeable battery, sampler/sequencers and effects, rumoured $399

Seems to be battling against the SP404s & them sub $500 samplers

It is a little bit 'cheap ugly' which is a shame, they should've made it 'iconic ugly' like the old joints
