A large number of people in the LA comedy scene have gotten into clowning, and people spread the idea that being a clown is a viable career path.
However other than Steve-O and the dude from Heated rivalry, I've never heard of any clown actually making any money (and neither of them are really known for their clowning).
You're too late op
Not to say this is entirely wrong but Jester Privilege was stronger than Diplomatic Immunity in older times
that’s why my comment was contextualized around de-industrialization aka a capitalist society, so it is right for our times. Clowns have zero social clout today.
I wasn’t aware we still live in feudalism otherwise yes a royal court jester might be a good career fit

When did the west even get de industrialized though..
Also plenty of clowns are making income. Streamers and influencers in abundance. the coolness of being a clown got sucked out of it but they’re here

The “west” first world, Western Europe, America, Canada experienced a period of severe de-industrialization that shifted heavy manufacturing to the global south
This is the precedence to the “sweatshops” places like China, Thailand, Vietnam etc are known for today
Also why places like the “rust belt”exist as capital shifted to countries with cheaper labor
This isn’t anything esoteric and well documented
