interesting so you like doechii more than rapsody and tierra whack?
Yeah
I'm not a big Tierra Whack fan, but I respect her as an artist.
I like Rhapsody, but don't consider myself a huge fan
I am sick and tired of All I want For Christmas is you. & hate the fact that Mariah's career is reduced to a Christmas legacy act
luther is booty cheeks not even top 10 on gnx
i respect your bravery and i don’t disagree with you that album’s strengths is elsewhere. classic album tho
pray 4 love is the ugly duckling of rodeo
i mean maybe it’s really live for with drake but this song kickstarted a lineage of “blockbuster” weeknd collab songs that just fail to bring out the best of both artists
guys i wanted to respond to this guy who was talking about lost by frank ocean but cant find him. anyway here’s my long winded write up on how thinking about you was more popular than lost until recently.
lost got more attention after blond tbh
channel orange came in that weird time where streaming was rapidly becoming mainstream. it was a year after spotify’s us launch, there was 15 million users, and AM wasn’t in the picture yet. a transitional period for how we listened to music.
thinking about you was a viral sensation, there was a really popular vine with thinking about you. but even before release, it gained a lot of traction from his infamous tumblr. he leaked his demo for the song despite being asked by label mate, bridget kelly, to write the song for her debut album.
i don’t think either artist anticipated the song to have the reception it did, while some can argue franks decision to leak demo before the release was in bad taste, it single-handedly changed the trajectory of his career. it’s obvious def jam saw the vulnerable song had to be performed by its author.
a year later, its frank ocean’s first single for his major label debut with def jam. the rest is history. months before the song was already getting traction but by the time it got an official release, it was bound to go platinum.
lost wasn’t exactly b side but it was a post release single. 6 months after the record came out right before christmas. it didn’t have the same kinda label push naturally, despite it being such a catchy easy going song.
i’d argue lost found its way to the mainstream around the same time as frank went from “potentially one hit wonder rnb legend” to the artist he is seen as today. this isn’t to say lost wasn’t a popular album cut that fans adored. i just don’t think it got the kinda attention u think it got until years later
Ms Fat Booty being Mos Defs most popular track never sit right wit me fam
Even he don’t perform that s*** no mo
She's my favorite female rapper since Jean Grae.....I'm rooting for her super hard.....but yeah. Lol
I don't mind the anxiety joint because I haven't been bombarded by it as much. The one I don't get is that Denial is a River song. Really hate that basic ass beat

The booty was fat, end of discussion
I’ve never really liked Humble
His rapping is good and I love the music video but man I hate that beat so much
Never got why No Role Modelz is Cole’s biggest song. I think he’s got better and catchier
lmao saw someone say all i want for christmas is you yep that is the definitive answer
She is a legend without that song
idk how she could drop that tape and then make that song
nah this song old
it just got popular after the Grammys when people started looking on her page and realized she was a YouTuber
she dropped this before yucky blucky fruitcake (ironically another ‘tiktok hit’ of hers)

True I meant Lost is most popular currently. I acknowledge a lot of fame is due to Tik Tok retroactively.
I can also see how someone would dislike Thinking Bout You, but I like that song too.
I don't think soooo. :(((
'Darling Nikki,' 'Computer Blue,' 'The Beautiful Ones' are all magnificent; 'When Doves Cry' is good.
'Take Me with U' especially and 'Let's Go Crazy' are garbage, though.
Whereas, well, the titular track is overrated -- tremendously.
