I think the first half of Steins;Gate is actually funny and chill. It didn't really bother me except maybe the first episode.

What did bother me is how "weeb friendly" it is but I guess it's part of the appeal too.

I'll throw my hat into the "Steins;Gate 0 sucks" ring as well, its been too long since I've watched either SG show to explain why in detail, but I just felt like SG0 lacked the soul and charm that the original had and was just too dark and edgy. New characters were all forgettable, 0's version of some OG characters were bland af (eg Suzuha), and the lack of Kurisu in 0 doesn't help either

Original Steins;Gate was my favorite anime when I first watched it, and also among my first 20 anime I think, but I feel like theres quite a bit of it that hasnt aged well either, especially some of the humor. I think if I were to watch the show now again I wouldn't view it as fondly as I used to.

Yeah I don't think it was intentional. I won't say she was ignorant of her portrayal, but I don't think she really knew what it means in a cultural sense beyond it being funny to be racist towards black people where she's from.

Not just the character design, but even though Krone is probably the best written character for her short time on screen, she's portrayed as a stereotype that negatively impacts black women meaning she was less feminine, loud, less motherly etc. Directly in contrast to Isabella who's like perfect and snow white.

Her later drawings of black people aren't so bullshit, she probably learned her lesson. The anime toned a lot of it down.

I have low expectations anyway so I was just happy this manga about children didn't have anything sexual
