they absolutely are when its for anime. You really think Neo Yokio, Yasuke, Great Pretender, B the Beginning, Japan Sinks, Carole and Tuesday have not been made with a western audience in mind? Like cmon man lmao

Sure there is something like Devilman Crybaby or Dorohedoro which breaks from the norms, but these shows are few and far between from how obvious most their shows are tailored for a western audience.

Just realized Funi actually licensed VE not Netflix. So my bad on that one.

I think its okay. Gorgeously animated and drawn but I think definitely because of the need to have marketed towards a Western audience causes it to greatly try to mimic other heist/thief stories except its made so much more ridiculous in the logic behind the schemes.

I would say by far its the worst thing Wit has done from what I have seen.

Great animation can only save so much. It's not my main focus but it can enhance or ruin an anime definitely.

When it's a mystery I mostly care about the plot. So if it's a great plot or a very bad but funny plot I'd watch it. I just don't want a boring story.

Usually from my experience from mystery anime they start off so good and then the ending is stupid or disappointing.

I also don't mind an anime using cliches (most anime I watched are cliche heavy) if done well.

Devilman Crybaby feels tailored to a Western audience but I liked the "modern plot". I like that it's very in the moment and features the internet and social media and these little rap freestyles, they added character to it and made it seem like omg it's happening today.

The only thing I didn't like was the English speaking moment, like they could've just taken that part from the English dub because it hindered a pretty important scene.

Yasuke definitely was though, I'll give you that, but that project was greenlit by Netflix so it fits into what I was saying.

TLDR: Just because an anime is mid or sucks doesn't mean it was meant to cater to westerners lol

though it depends on the Manhwa.

I don't read GOH for a riveting story, I read it for the fights/combat, and that hasn't dropped in quality over the 300+ chapters. The storytelling definitely has suffered a bit though.

lmfao yes. just cuz it’s long doesn’t mean it’s not good, especially when Manwha chapters are shorter than regular manga chapters a lot of the time.

Tower of God and God of Highschool are both at 500+ chapters rn and they are better than any manga being published rn

Man I know that anime got some hate, but I personally thought it was great. Is the actual Manhwa as random as the anime? If so I am checking it out.
