Like Tranquility said, we should make less anime

That would be going back to the 80s and 90s, which I can’t imagine was a good time for animators either

Also this will never happen with the kind of money being made. We’re only getting more and more anime from here on out

It wasn't a good time because anime wasn't profitable. Now it is but companies overwork the employees. Just don't overwork them. There are like 50-60 anime coming out every season, scroll down on MAL and tell me who's watching that garbage at the bottom of the seasonals. They can cut it down to 20 a season and we'll get better conditions for employees and consequently better anime.

I guess the thing Tranquility is assuming about me is that I think animators shouldn’t get paid, but I think they do deserve too. I just know they won’t without a whole bunch of other harmful things happening that turns anime Hollywood af. It would be great if they paid animators more and didn’t overwork them, but the day this happens is the day the director and animators starts taking orders from producers and just trying to do what they say.

I'm not educated on the industry at all. Isn't this what happens already?

I think the only directors who get creative freedoms are big names like Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon, Masaaki Yuasa etc

I mean the director of Vivy is not a big name at all and he got creative freedom to make a completely original anime with amazing talent all around him to help

There’s plenty of directors who get creative freedom even to make additions with huge name works like attack on Titan or My Hero Academia. I’d imagine you are right with some of the smaller studios that are under Big Crunch but even then producers in anime studios generally let the staff do what they want, as long as they meet their deadlines since the objective isn’t for the anime to make money but to simply market the source material
