actually ended up watching invincible and that s*** wasn’t too bad. the first episode just gave off mid kid cartoon vibes but the last like 5 min changed everything.

my taste is more coming of age/slice of life/shit that’s mostly based in reality.. and preferably w a comedic aspect to it (rom coms just fit that description perfectly so I end up watching a lot of those)
also sports anime’s pretty much cover that “manly man” s*** or whatever. I watch a lot of those.
but also art style/the way the characters are drawn is big deal breaker for me. It’s like a beat in a rap song.. if the beat isn’t my taste idc how good the rapping is I’m not gonna enjoy listening to it. if I’m not feeling the art style ima have a hard to watching some s*** even if it’s supposed to be fire.

Most anime that I like with that reality factor are all of em depressing
to me fantasy stuff like magic or super powers are just projections of a character's personality
I feel you on the music part tho....beats make or break songs while lyrics not that much

Chihayafuru sounds aptly right up your alley. There's a competitive side where they play this traditional game and the plays can be super engaging, has a more than meets the eye kind of feel to it and then there's the SoL/romcom aspect where the series has at its core
Also the cast is top tier, when a show gets you invested in its opponent-of-the-week char that's when you know whats good

Still ongoing, each season has 24 episodes so gone be a while before they drop the next one
watching bnh season 2 right now

i thought s2 was a step up from s1 but still not good. s3 when it really starts hitting
but you’re right, the dynamic characters and animation are def MHA strong points. most characters in class 1A feel like they’re really changing and maturing as the show goes on, even the not so important ones. i just wish some of the fights were a little better at this point.
