Just finished Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom and I'm pretty mixed on it. I loved Ein and Zwei's relationship. I thought the dialog between them was fantastic and was a great exploration of love, purpose and humanity in a world that doesn't allow for such things. It made me really care for the both of them.

But that's kinda all I enjoyed. The Inferno side of things and the politics of the underground didn't really interest me. It all just felt pretty standard, I guess? The side characters were lackluster as well. Maybe Ein and Zwei were just written so well that they overshadowed the rest of the cast, but I didn't care at all for the side characters or their motivations.

Also the amount of time skips was just silly. There was like 4 of them in 26 episodes lmao. And it was odd that a show with so much death and violence had very little blood, it made some of the shoot outs lack any impact.

I looked up some theories about the ending and I agree with the most popular theory. After rewatching the ending I feel like it's the most likely outcome. Overall, I'd say it was a 7/10.

Japanese probably have a different sense of humor, especially 20th century japanese. I found the rakugo scenes compelling and i was absorbed into the stories but i didnt necessarily laugh everytime i should've but that's ok with me, i didnt need to understand that type of humor to enjoy those scenes personally, the voice acting, direction and stories told were enough for me
