HENNYGODHNDRXXCan someone explain the Mushoko Tensei controversy? I’m on episode 1 and besides the fact a grown man pervert got Isekai reset while keeping his memory, there’s nothing strange about it. (I only listed that point because I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy tries to be a pervert on kids his age, even though he’s mentally 30+ years old.)
Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of how the anime portrays the MC's pedophilic behaviour: I think it undermines the "redemption" narrative that the anime established. The MC has complete freedom to sexually assault children (when he still has the mind of a ~40 year old) as much as he likes because the anime portrays the situations and "consequences" (if you can even call them that) in a comedic tone. The presentation and writing are absurd and make no sense when you think of it in the context of a redemption story.
That's my main complaint, and the complaint I see from others who have problems with it. The subject matter is irrelevant, it's the presentation of the subject matter that has people questioning it.

Yeah it starts off where it does feel like a redemption arc for a few eps (he does some questionable s*** for sure but he commits a pretty f***ed up act which makes him genuinely remorseful and he apologizes for it)
But then after that he continues doing p pedophilic s*** and while he rightfully gets punished for it or it backfires on him, the anime presents these scenes more as comedic rather than f***ed up or even remotely in the space of self reflection for the character.
That’s definitely an issue with this anime but the lore, worldbuilding, other characters and the story are all great. It’s just this quirk of the MC which makes him pretty unlikeable

DMWRfinallly got around to finishing FLCL earlier today, soundtrack was incredible and there were a lot of memorable moments but other than that im not really sure what to make of it lol

ughhh i love battle shonen but i feel like i’ve seen all the best ones. i like that s*** to be smart and emotional with good fights, like Jojo or HxH. finishing up s2 of MHA, and it was ok but really just feels mediocre compared to the best stuff from the genre
and yes i’m watching JJK and it’s awesome lol just want more of that
