Gatchaman Crowds - 5/10

This was an interesting one. It brings up a lot of topics: what does it mean to be a hero, are heroes and authority figures even necessary when you have the collective strength and knowledge of normal civilians, over-reliance and dangers of social media, the nature of leadership, and more, but it managed to juggle them pretty effectively and bring it all together even if it never takes a strong stance on any of its themes. In fact, it made a pointed effort of showing both sides of each topic.

Sometimes people do heroic deeds for fame, sometimes because it makes them feel good, and sometimes its to get points in their phone app.

Sometimes the internet lets people spew hate at others due to its anonymity, and sometimes it lets strangers coordinate rescue efforts in times of crisis.

There's no definitive answers in Gatchaman Crowds, just like there's no definitive answers in real life, and that's OK with me.
