I think it really falls off around the time Arachne wakes up and the other death scythes are introduced. I do love the characters even so though (except Maka in the anime, she kinda sucks).

But Black Star/Soul/Tsubaki/Kid/ect are great.

It's sad because if they just adapted the manga Maka is great and Kid/Black Star are even better characters.

Ironically the only character I don’t like is Excalibur. I ended up skipping his episodes because his bit is so annoying.

As far as plot goes I agree it goes off the rails. Honestly I wanted to put Soul Eater on the list as kind of a wild card. Idk what to replace it with. NHK might be a good pick even though it’s also flawed.

I don’t think Maka sucks in the anime, I thought she was the coolest character. The ending is very lame for her tho and I wish she was given more to do.

When an anime dips in quality it’s either still classic (like Death Note) or completely ruined for me (Gurren Lagann) and I can’t pinpoint why.
