Tbh, I personally don't find the ending of EoE to be necessarily bleak. Bc after instrumentality is rejected by Shinji, humanity is given the chance to return to individual form (if they have the will to do so). Shinji chooses to exist as an individual, even if it means facing pain and loneliness. He chooses to confront reality and in the process shows personal growth. The final scene with Asuka is symbolic of 'starting over' - but in a desolate and uncertain world. I find it an hopeful ending, all things considered - bc even tho suffering is an inherent part of existence, life and connection still hold value.
But yeah, it's a masterpiece
I don't know if you can call that not bleak especially when it's standing next to the rebuild series with Shinji also making a decision as well

I said it's not necessarily bleak - there’s still room for positive interpretations of the end of EoE. While an uneasy feeling lingers, "bleakness" implies a total absence of hope, and the film doesn't fully cross that line, for me anyways.

Ave Mujica EP2
Damn, last week I thought Sakiko was just taking out her frustration on Mutsumi in the car and she probably didn't mean it but it seems she has forgotten about her completely and taking her for granted (Ironic given her stage name) and is also just too focused on trying to make Ave Mujica as successful as possible since she thinks it's all she got left
Sakiko is such a nerd lmao, she turned Nyamus doxxing into a cannon event in the Ave Mujica lore so the fans can stay immersed; that's my queen
I feel like Minami and Nyamu could have been twins. Minami clearly a narcissist and doesn't pay any attention to Mutsumi either given how quick she was to discard Mutsumi's safe space
I like the focus on Mutsumi this episode and her struggles with living in the shadows of her parent's fame. Every scene where her parents are mentioned she looks uncomfortable asf, no one addresses her without mentioning her parents. The last part of the episode with the stage play being based around losing identity was a pretty good way to encapsulate what Mutsumi's going through. Mutsumi also seems to unintentionally cause issues any time she opens her mouth I wonder if something happened in the past with her parents and that is also why she is so hesitant to speak
I'm curious to see how Sakiko and Mutsumi's relationship progresses next episode. She is either going to: a) Blame herself for being too preoccupied with Ave Mujica to notice Mutsumi (I think it might be too early for this) or b) Blame Mutsumi for trying to destroy everything she has worked for (likely), it's going to be interesting to see how Mutsumi reacts to Sakiko's reaction.
