Been watching some Mamoru Hosoda movies since his birthday was last week
The Girl Who Leapt through Time: 6/10
The Boy and The Beast: 5/10
Mirai: 3/10
Belle: 7/10
mayonaka punch had some good episodes and genuinely funny moments but there was also just as many boring moments and poor episodes. i feel like youtube channels just aren't very compelling plot devices. didn't really feel strongly about it either way so 6.5/10
Elusive samurai really the only anime that kept me watching this season.
Hoping next is better but dont look good. Uzumaki tho
More Frieren thoughts
1. I like the pacing and the way they made it an actual adventure of them going to different villages and seeing the world and new people, having these small moments of character bonding, I think it's interesting enough so I'm glad it knows how to slow things down.
2. Humanity is a main theme in the anime as Frieren is kind of in the middle between the humans and demons, pretty neutral and she gains humanity throughout the story, a lot of dialogue is centered around this topic (flashbacks with Himmel's group), and my guess is she'll face a dilemma some time near the ending that will show her growth. Really strong lead btw.

I thought the first couple episodes were fantastic, especially with how different the premise seemed at first and made it feel like a breath of fresh air. but now that i'm on the last episode, im a bit disappointed that it kinda shifted towards the familiar scenarios that are present in a high school anime.
It's been a while since I watched an anime good enough to warrant a small individual write-up.

Hugtto Precure - 8/10
Junichi Satou is one of the greatest directors of all time and the godfather of modern mahou shoujo anime.
Great character development among the cast, though some definitely stand out more than others, such as Emiru and Ruru's growing relationship, and Homare's journey of coming to terms with her feelings. Either of those two character arcs alone could have made for a great anime, but what I found especially impressive was how the show tied both arcs into its overarching theme of "future." The word "future" can evoke different feelings in different people, and Huggto isn't afraid to explore the entire spectrum: from hope to dread, from the desire to move forward as fast as possible to the wish for time to completely stop. The show's ability to explore the central theme of "future" from various angles adds quite a bit of depth, and prevents it from becoming repetitive or one-dimensional.
Hugtto also contributes a whopping three episodes into my "Notable Anime Episodes" list that I started working on a couple months ago.
Episode of the Decade Tier
Episode 15 - Perfect(ish) Match...? Emiru & Lulu's Day Out
Episode 16 - Charm the World!? Master Homare, So Tough!
Episode of the Year Tier
Episode 4 - Shine! Operation Precure Scouting!

the school election arc dropped the show from being a great one to just being a good one. though, i will say that the last couple of minutes of the last episode was quite sweet, so i have fate that the second season will bring the quality back up

RIP. Just watched Lycoris Recoil too.
