is it a budget thing that FMAB had that other animes dont? i dont need to watch just super popular shows, if others are just as good ill check it out
FMAB is so beloved because it's a show with very good writing, fantastic and well-realized characters, practically no filler, excellent animation, and very interesting themes (both political and philosophical).
That being said, there are plenty of other great animes out there.
For the love of god if you're not gonna listen to me, at least listen to the OPM chief animation director. Just stop using the word budget already.

im watching FMAB rn. loving it. so im assuming anime goes downhill from here? this is why i didnt wanna watch this first and get Death Note, AOT, Demon Slayer & Spy x Family out of the way
All those other shows you listed are great, for different reasons. Personally tho, AoT is on a whole nother level.

Wait so an anime is good because of its actual content?

So Anime is good because of non paid overwork
i see, makes sense a popular anime has a higher chance of being better cuz of a bigger budget.
so what would be like an indie classic that never got the proper shine and budget
in TV world, The Shield comes to mind
honestly, other people ITT would have a better list for you but my pick would be Read or Die OVA and its TV followup. it was an adaptation but not a big one.

this is only partially true. records have shown that for TV anime and for film there are pretty noticeable differences in budgetary resources between different anime. And it shows sometimes. while inexperienced or overburdened staff can result in animation collapse at different points, to say that sponsors and production assistance don't play a hand in how something is made is a bit irresponsible. One Punch Man, for example, has 9 listed producers, while an average 1-cour show, for example's sake let's use Gangsta, has about 3 (give or take). more sources for funding means more hands on deck and more spending cash to outsource more valuable personnel (not itty bitty studios located off in Seoul or Hanoi, RIP Twintails).
man idk if i should skip dragon ball and go to z or keep watching
Tbh if the first dozen episodes aren't hitting look up when the last tournament arc starts and go from there.
I love DB but its not for everyone. It's pretty different than DBZ
lord have mercy we're actually using random redditors as sources instead of people who actually work in the anime industry
whats next are we gonna say a building with a studio name attached to it is great at animation because the studio happened to get a freelancer to animate one scene for them?
Ppl who say MAPPA is the goat studio bcuz they’ve only seen aot szn 4 and JJK
and dance dance dancer
Well now that I think about it I do recall seeing a thread or two about A24 in this section. Maybe the anime brain rot of discounting actual creators and giving all the credit to a faceless company has begun spreading to the West. I really loved Universal Pictures' work on the Fast & Furious movies I guess.

So that means the staff was just ass for the second season lol?
New JJK season will be so fire
Same with MHA
Same with AOT
Watching Class of the Elite and it’s one of the more satisfying slow burns
Rent a girlfriend also fire, surprisingly
