i watched the anime (even though they didn't finish it) and read the entire manga
never played the visual novel though
i've also watched higurashi
love them
I have read the VN for both but haven't watched the anime so not sure how that fares, the VNs are insanely long though (like 90+ hours long) so I find it hard to believe that the animes are good adaptations
I don't usually like to recommend media that is absurdly long but I would say reading Umineko is worth it (sounds like you already read it though), the absurd family drama and just trying to uncover the mystery of what the f*** happened in that island is entertaining asf. Also has an insane amount of original music to go along with it

i just prefer manga as a medium but otherwise i would've played the visual novel
the anime was just alright but gets a lot of hate because it was missing a lot of stuff
umineko is definitely worth checking out for anyone into mystery

really dislike the character designs in jaadugar. everyone looks like a baby with the same face and they all have giant hands for some reason

Youre right they shouldn't follow the source, Science Saru animators were wrong they should've consult you first and draw in the style of whatever garbage you like

why you so pressed you f***ing weirdo
i already assumed it was accurate to the manga like the vast majority of adaptations. i didn't say anything about science saru making the wrong choice or doing a bad job, i literally praised them for their use of color and lighting a few pages ago. i just don't like the way the characters look, manga or not

Do you have to higurashi first?
There are two characters in Umineko that are obviously connected and resemble two characters in Higurashi but they are not the same characters and the small references they make here and there aren't important enough to read Higurashi first. At worst, you're just missing some minor jokes. I read Umineko first and didn't feel like I missed out on anything
