Idk. It's hard seeing the latest chapter having elite oligarchs hunting and killing poor people not taking political inspiration. While it is still media to consume, a lot of people are constantly denying that One Piece is political in any nature.

Right, it’s not just slightly political. One Piece is built around major themes of social inequality, discrimination, freedom, authority, propaganda, corruption, etc. As Oda himself has said, much of this comes down to basic reading comprehension.

Ppl need to realize that most things are, in fact, political. And that all art, even when it’s not as overt as One Piece, is always open to political interpretation.

Like one of the few anime genres you can say that has no political stance is a slice of life. Even then, it's a stretch because it has commentary on societal issues that Japan deals with.

You're on the right track, bc they are still in fact, political. "Everyday life” always reflects social values. SoL shows normalize certain family roles, societal hierachies, gender expectations, and labor conditions for example. Like, even the act of omitting stuff (like not depicting poverty or marginalized groups) is a political choice.
