as someone from the new orleans scene, i can all but confirm that’s pretty much what it is. by the time he left to do the agnb s*** majority of people in the scene knew him as a s***pest. victims were too afraid/didn’t care to speak out about it at the time and he had left so spreading awareness in the scene felt arbitrary. i think it was probably a deciding factor in him leaving the city.

in the same conversation, it’s really jarring to see how unaware the world was of his behavior. in new orleans (and from what i’ve heard seattle too) we all have known he was like this. i’ve seen so many people in the past week online shocked about this news, and i of course know why that is, but the dissonance feels crazy because anytime in the past week i’ve talked to someone i know irl about it, their response is always “oh that’s finally happening?”
