I even said in this thread a few pages ago that people will see this incident on the same level as rape even though he didn't even enter her. The lines between the different crimes are super blurred and any nuance is lost on the general public. Somehow, it is seen as misogynist and weird to state the fact that even amongst sexual crimes, some crimes are more severe than others. They take it as an excuse of the lesser crime somehow. People are just too emotional to discuss criminal law in general, and it gets more heated with sexual crimes. The worst thing to discuss is sexual crime against children, then any reasoning flies out the window for the general public. I have a different view than most laymen since I am in the legal field. I do understand where the emotions are coming from but the public discourse is not very constructive IMO, especially in the USA.

Some of the American discourse has swapped over here too, but not as severe. We did have an overhaul of our sexual criminal law in my country. It helped in some areas and caused new problems in other areas.
