But also, when the fact heâs playing MIDI flute is kind of obscured in the marketing and itâs presented as him playing a real flute, I actually found it a little bit disappointing personally because the sound felt more sterile and not as personal coming from Andre. I feel like it could be used to cover up for technical ability too so idk. Just kind of weird imo

Like, most of it isnât actually the sound of him playing the flute, itâs just him inputting notes through a flute controller. Itâs insane that heâs even afraid to let us hear his actual flute playing. He only played ACTUAL flute on 2 songs on the supposed âflute albumâ. You canât make this s*** up
âIt isnât actually the sound of him playing the fluteâ is true I guess, but you wouldnât say this about herbie hancock playing the Rhodes or wurlitzer or an electric keyboard and not piano. That isnât him being âAFRAID TO SHOW US THE REAL PIANOâ itâs just a sonic choice
You wouldnât say jimmi hendrix was SCARED for us all to hear him play acoustic instead of electric with pedals and amps.
With Andre, Youâre hearing exactly his skill, articulations, flourishes just on a digital flute patch. Nothing is being hidden lol
I think the real issue is he isnât that good or versatile of a player.
His whole input/presence on the album being a mic set up in front of a real flute wouldnât magically make the album any better or worse.
