Iāll do you one better and point out that Kurt Cobain couldnāt play or sing for s*** but he still managed to make classic records.
By playing music with a structure. He didnāt just go in and play random notes on the guitar. He played chords in a certain order and rhythm.
I know Tylerās punching the air rn for not coming up with wearing a piano backpack
YO!! Why is he the first person I thought of when I saw that fit.
also just peeped track 1 and the song begins and ends with the same motif
zero musical structure my ass!

Damn so Andre knew what a motif was 10 years ago but forgot by the time New Blue Buns dropped

Cuz they both fit that quirky Wes Anderson character build

Jazz slander again I canāt believe it
EXTREMELY small percentage
What I originally meant was yes, a piece thatās actually played on an instrument. And in this case the technical ability would be some level of understanding of the instrument or composition or notes or chords
If we were to extend it to just pieces without vocals, the same could apply but in that case the technical ability would be more likely to be rhythmic or structural, something that suggests purpose to how the music is put together and technical ability with a sampler or DAW
āzero musical structureā sounds awfully like free jazz slander

Jazz slander again I canāt believe it
How is that jazz slander lol
Jazz players the best at playing chord sequences. Chords and notes matter
track 2 and this is standard jazz piano noodling
youād think he was botching twinkle-twinkle-little-star with how 2words is talking
Name 5 great instrumental pieces that were created by someone without technical ability
damn near all of brian enoās discography tbh. heās not a traditional musician
Show me the hip hop ones. Technical ability isnāt limited to instrumental training though. Hip hop producers have technical ability with their sampler or program. I canāt think of any hip hop beats where the producer is just pressing random buttons hoping for the best
They're good at computer but not musically trained, which is what it seemed like you were talking about
if its strictly just about putting effort into something then yes no one can argue that Andre has put in enough effort to make fluent instrument music if what you say is true
...that's suggesting the measurement for something being artistically valid is the amount of effort put in which is a point I disagree with, you could train for a thousand years and still make boring pieces that don't make anyone feel anything
you don't need to win these semantics battles to back up that you don't like this EP, you're allowed to dislike it without having some intrinsic point to it all

Glad to have met this goat in November
Hope he keeps releasing art
This is jazz baby
How is that jazz slander lol

only so much as if youāre conveying the feeling youāre searching for
which i imagine 3K feels as though he accomplished cus he put out this ep

Suggesting that there is a baseline level of effort that should be put into music and playing an instrument isnāt the same as suggesting that āmore effort=better musicā. I feel like thatās a cop out. Effort isnāt the measurement but it is a pretty basic expectation. Without any effort, dedication or study you risk sounding like a child. Which can be cool in certain context (The Residents are an actual good example of this) but this isnāt one of them
off rhythm laughter
who cares
this just a dumb joke/callback to him getting exposed for using midi fluted a couple pages back bro
chill on proper tho man fr
