I pray it's more Lord of the rings vibes and less The Hobbit vibes (and yes I'm talking about the movies)
Lord of the rings had a far more gritty vibe with actors in prosthetics playing the orcs and actual fights happening and whatnot whereas the hobbitt was all cgi, like watching video game cutscenes and cartoonist, ppl never felt in danger unlike say when the fellowship gets ambushed at the end of lotr1 where they re outmatched and fighting for their lives. In the hobbit one dwarf can take out a whole room of orcs and crack jokes throughout
And don't get me started on the original stuff they added like an elf warrior falling in love with a "dwarf" aka human looking since romance subplot, right after he tells her to check down his trousers, and making Legoland a pathetic love sick puppy following her around as she searches desperately for trouser dwarf
Surely they can’t mess this up, right?
They already did by adding a bunch of minorities !!!!
Why cant black people exist in lotr
people r mad it isn’t representing ancient fictional Anglo Saxon England cause that’s what Tolkien based it on
I never watched these movies. I own all the books currently. Should I read the books rn or watch the movies
I rewatched the movies with my brother last year & read the books for the first time right after.
It was nice having a basic understanding of the world & everything. I absolutely loved the books still even though I knew how it proceeds & ends. It doesn’t exactly take away from the books because they’re still a magical experience. Keep in mind that he really was at that time starting his own genre & a blueprint for fantasy after & you’ll appreciate them even more.
F***ing Internet already tryna bring this s*** down lmao show ain’t even close to being out yet.
The "anti woke!" Youtubers like the quartering and critical drinker clearing their fall content list for this

They don't have the rights to The Silmarillion or any other Tolkien books, only the Lord of the Rings trilogy/appendices.

That’s a letdown. Why even make this lol
I heard there will be a trasngender non binary character.
????? but why
I just watched The Hobbit + LOTR for the first time at 27 this past week
How are the Hobbits?
How are the Hobbits?
I liked it personally. But for me it def has a diff feel than LOTR. More of an adventure story than a dramatic fantasy epic if that makes sense. Even the visuals are more dream-like and focus more on modern effects rather than the grittiness LOTR had that made it so special.

Will have to check them out before this show airs
