Right after Relapse dropped in spring 09, CH debut album was supposed to drop in summer
But when Relapse underperformed, Charles was dropped soon after that
There were other controversies with Charles, but getting punched by his girlfriend and getting into some hot water with Detroit/Dilla heads never explained why a major label would just completely abandon an artist with a hit single after all the promo they put into him
The failure with Em would add more reason for the label to just lose all faith in his commercial viability and think he wasn’t worth the trouble
Also the rumor didn’t come from Charles himself originally, some supposed insider on the forums started saying it way back

I think someone wrote the raps for In My Mind, whether it was Jay or Lupe
I don’t think P was rapping like that, he’s rapping like a top 10 MC on that, it’s hard to fathom that he was that nice
