I would argue the reason for the war is the final line of the movie I dont want to die. That is why he says thats good enough. The reason all these people are killing each other is because they themselves don't want to die. The moments where the camera most faces the audience is when they are talking to the audience same as " because they are shooting at us". When bombs rain from the sky and the key source of news ie journalist is gone what would people do?
Imagine the world right now with no tv and bombs rain from the sky that is reason enough for war there is no form of media
Kind of funny seeing some the reactionary takes calling Garland a “coward” for making this movie.
Like…how?
This movie was literally built to be a provocateur. I don’t understand how if the movie blatantly dunked on MAGA and right wing extremism that would suddenly make him “brave”.
SNL f***ing does that.

Even braver to make a movie that doesn’t say ANYTHING in a world where everything is so politically driven and divided . They just there to take pics

I thought that was referencing when Sammy said at the end they're all cowards and never live up to what you think, never meet your heroes. It'll be a good quote because it exposes the President for who he is.
Just left the theater
This was fire.
I work in News Television and a lot of the old heads got their start in covering wars.
Really dope that the film is from that prospective
Popcorn or nachos????
Crunching on nachos during impeccable sound design... diabolical.

Not during this, this s*** has BIG EXPLOSIONS GUN SOUNDS GUN SOUNDS BANG BANG BANGGGGGG
my minor crunches was a fart in the wind
My expectation for Civil War going in was totally different from what I got, and I cannot be happier about that. This film is less about the war itself and more about the journalists covering the war. The dangers they put themselves though in order to capture what they need and bring it to the people. There’s no side to root for, no overt political agenda, this film is just focused journalists.
Personally, I minored in journalism in college, so I have a huge appreciation for journalism.
I also love how they didn’t draw lines about why the war is happening or who is fighting for what exactly. This film also has striking visuals and some shots are even beautiful to look at. Some of the visuals are also very harrowing and downright scary in some aspects. There is one moment of the film where I definitely felt my anxiety through the roof.
I can see where people may not be able to relate to the characters, and that’s a fair assessment. For me, while character is an important aspect, I looked at some events as the natural perils of war journalism.
I’ve come away thinking very highly of this film. I’m short of calling anything a masterpiece after one viewing, but this could be in contention.
5/5

It’s a bit of both it’s even the war criminal that is the reason for the war doesn’t have a true reason for it because no money in death . He put women in the fake car knowing they would be killed a coward til the end

Truly one of the most insane theater experiences I’ve ever had. I’m still shook. My girl almost had a panic attack. That movie was near perfect. I’m f***ing floored.
