Then why is that the final song

Because the movie pans out to the reality that these people have to return to, the desolate, apocalyptic wasteland

Listen to the lyrics of the credits song did you stay for the credits because it makes it quite clear

The credits are a meta depiction of us, the audience for Digger, walking out of the theater to the f\*\*\*ed up reality we live in after laughing at a two hour movie that satirizes the people at the top. The final idea the movie wants you to have is that this was a mirror for how art works in our real lives. They didn't want you to walk away thinking "oh so billionaires lie to us". We all already know that

  • The more I think about and discuss this movie, the more it's moving into my Top 10 this year, I'm loving the questions that this movie is posing

he has kept secret that he is producing the play for 20+ years and not allowed anyone else to direct it while he could just fund it for what reason in your mind ? Is it that generous a read that the man who inherited an environmental business from his mom that instead made a security company in a dystopia. Is a security company going to make art with the peoples best interest in mind ?

This is my top movie of the year even with its perceived faults . Your mother up there . Odyssey . Hope up there

Most of rest battling for bottom

The movie's point is that art doesn't inherently have to have your best interest in mind to serve its purpose as art. Those people know that the story in the play is dramatized, but they enjoy it anyway because it gives them a reprieve from the actual harsh reality they face.

art can also be used to control narratives . Alejandro has said that his entire career . Art can be freeing it can also be greatly oppressive. I’m drawing that from studying and reading the theater of the oppressed which this movie also has a clear understanding of

He tells us why in the monologue. there is value in the catharsis for everyone (even him seeing his family being dramatized, which he talks about) some cheer, some cry, some yell f\*\*\* you digger, some feel comfort in the story being remembered and told. But then the alarm sounds and everyone shuffles out and moves on. Which is why imo the movie is saying that yes art is important and has value but it also warns us that its not enough to enact real change

why do you trust the monologue of a billionaire Rockwell who runs a security firm . We are not lead to believe he views the audience as equals in anyway .

I don’t think he orchestrated it . I do think he benefitted from it and it’s odd his security company wouldn’t trace it for the good of humanity but will for his rich actor instantly and he receives a call she is safe onstage at the climax of the movie
