    To the real story, yes

its to both . You think the poor with multiple characters had this entire story down and the rich billionaire family member is just honoring their story ? Then why would he buy it from them and not involve them in any part of the production. If he had a clear understanding of their intent he would have been clapping at their story too. he did so because he saw the audience reaction not his own reaction

no its not when the movie repeats over and over controlling the narrative.

Yes, Curtis's whole hangup is that the story of the play is inconsistent with the real-life events that transpired. But I don't remember them specifically saying that changes to the original play were made. Like ghosting said believe they said the original was a classic that he just bought the right to.

Why are you assuming that the original play also wasn't a satirical take on the actual events that happened?

they openly say they made changes multiple times throughout the movie.

Changes to the play vs the truth?

I think thats just dramatization that isn’t necessarily unique to the new version

I think the original take was a satirical take on reality 100%. I think the billionaire family member who controls a security industry and has a prop environmentalists company that was originally shared by Digger and his half sister who used the company as a fake to look good. I think he also uses this as a fake to look good. It was literally handed down to him along with the same blood money

The movie doesn't say that though, they just say he bought the rights to the play, it's never said that he made any changes to the original

even though people that havent seen the movie shouldnt really be in the thead they keep popping in to tell us about box office or reviews which in itself is deeply ironic

If you wanna get into his intentions behind buying the play, then yes that's a valid convo to have. But I don't think the movie ever suggests that any changes to the original play's story were made

Also, the title of the play implies that the original was also satirical and humorous: Fossil Fools

so a billionaire bought the rights to the play to make profit off of it and make no changes while casting major actors / running a security firm. Depicting his mom and others with the upmost honesty throughout to the original visition and creators ? I dont believe so because if most of what you are saying is true . If the point is art has meaning and you can trust him. I dont think the second twist is needed. You wouldnt even need to reveal the director. What does it being Kenny Rockwell profiting from his family own destruction which he profitted from and uses money from to produce the play but also makes profit from the play do? If its true wouldnt society view him being the director and funder as reprehensible ? Why is he shielding that information from them ?

Americans dont love the Rockwells though yes its satirizing their society but its a president and government figures none of them loved at the times. Its harder for them to look at because they exit and they live in the society. Which is presented how they viewed other third world countries and war torn countries it finally caught up to them.

The second twist is to drive home the main theme of the movie. You don't get that piece of it if Curtis doesn't have the breakdown about how the play is inaccurate to the real events

I think if its no mischievousness to Kenny Rockwell that the movie is too hamfisted in him explaining the entire point of the movie and just trusting him. Yes the point of a play satirizing villains is for that cantharis. I think him saying all that treats the audience as if they are a bit dumb. As in our real life audience. I think similiar to the digger rockwell scene where he says "you drove here you didnt carpool" its meta but its meta in the sense of trusting the person because in some ways what they are saying is true while also they grossly profit from lies and controlling the narrative which leads to our destruction. To each their own. Both Digger addressing the crowd and Kenny addressing the stage have similar feelings to me

why are you assuming the play is like a big money maker though. they imply multiple times that its an extremely lavish production for a theater play, if anything he’s probably breaking even or losing money. He tells us his intention for acquiring the play in his big monologue at the end though

I dont think Kenny Rockwell is a reliable narrator and many of us aren't alone in thinking that or why. If it was truly a public service and that inciteful a hugely oppressive society wouldnt allow it to exist. They are literally killing people right outside the doors. He has a security company but as soon as you walk outside the theater is a dystopia lol. staying after the credits where they literally play the warning level from behind you in the speakers and the credits is a full scene while they scroll

Doesnt the American actor explicitly list some of the positive qualities in Digger to try and humanize the story a bit. He calls him poised and some other stuff.

To me that scene was showing that for the Europeans there is some catharsis in the satire. Like the director says “they have to laugh at it” because what other choice do they f\*\*\*ing have. But for the American where he might feel some sort of shared responsibility subconsciously for the impact of his country he’s like ok we f\*\*\*ing get it whats the point of all this. Which ties back to a lot of the points the movie is trying to make about the true value and impact of art (also seems to be kind of mirroring how critics are reacting to the movie in real life lol)
