Streets saying this is like Cassavetes’ Opening Night, is that actually true lol

Parts remind me of science of sleep and holy mountain lol if anything I wish it leaned more onto absurdity

I’m surprised I haven’t seen any big narratives that the negative press has been sent down from the elite because this satire upsets them and that they don’t want you to see it. Can we start that from here and see if it has legs

I mean I was holding back saying it but again the man getting rich off reeenacting his dad’s suicide has access to find any human in the world with their phone number. That isn’t odd to you ? He hired all the actors to reenact this . Truth be told I think he is the one that caused the issue to his daughter’s plane to get a better performance. Which is why he gets a call right at the climax

  • This was great! Just saw it at the cinema

  • Didn’t even know it was getting bad reviews wtf

There's an Opening Night poster in the background of one scene. Do with that information what you will

It’s like I agree with what the movie is talking about, but like what @mosh said, the journey to get to that point is kind of brutal to sit through.

I know exactly how you're feeling right now lol

I haven't stopped thinking about it and respect the swings it took but it's not like I enjoyed most of it either

I think rewatch will get even better I think Jesse plenums character was controlling their reality too. I think he causes the issue with his daughter’s plane .

Kind of hilarious that before the twist was revealed I thought to myself “this is very theatrically staged” lo and behold it’s a play lmao

  • Pretty solid movie

I feel like it beats you over the head a bit with the message but it also does better than something like Don’t Look Up when it comes to that

I think in a way it’s two plays . The reality plot is also constructed . That is part of it too . His daughter plane issue receiving a phone call during the climax with plemons able to trace any phone feels like it’s produced to get an emotional performance from actor . Down to plemons explaining the whole plot and twist unnaturally . Audience applauding and clapping in unison . They are part of the show

Well I mean it is. Since we’re watching it. Then I guess there’s a third layer to it then? But it does feel like with the Plemmons reveal that it’s something like big tech or whatever equivalent reclaiming the narrative on a macro level with him putting the show on in the first place. Then once we go outside we see that yeah, they are living in hell and fascism did take over. It’s just now the story of Digger is kind of co-opted by the corporations and he’s turned to the villain in the world in order to get people okay with what’s going on.
