Those new pics look like the makeup and prosthetics alone cost upwards of $100K. I feel bad for the Tom and the crew during production because I don't doubt it took 15 hours to do each time. God forbid if an accident happened onset and the mask got damaged and needed to be recast

Actors spending 5-10 10 hours getting makeup and prosthetics applied, then working onset in makeup for another 10 hours same day has been happening in popular movies for almost 100 years.

For a contemporary comparison, Colin Farrell did numerous promo interviews for Batman where he talked about sitting in the chair each morning of shooting for 3-4 hours to get into the Penguin makeup, and would then have to work in it for 13-17 hours at times.

These transformatory makeup supplies, and especially if it involves any casts/prosthetics, can get very expensive. That isn't a random or baseless thing to say.
