WESLEYS THEORYI understand your perspective on it. If AI goes against human creativity in general, why be indifferent towards its usage depending on the context?
For me, I’m not 100% against the use of it when used in a creative context. For example, I think it’s ability to seperate and isolate certain elements of a track and make it clearer for human usage in a way that could never be
done previously is absolutely incredible and something I’m 100% for.I guess for me, I don’t really care as much if it’s not affecting the main product in a negative way. I don’t really like Alc using it for promotional usage, but I’m not adamantly opposed to it in comparison to let’s say…fucking Timbaland using it to generate something instead of him creating it organically. Something that’s affecting the main product.

the track isolation u mention sounds alright because its more tool focused and those are aspects of ai that im more partial to
whereas art work is part of the art theyre selling, which in this case is music. timbaland is using software that is reworking human creativity in the form of stolen production. this isnt so different to me. an ai trained on a plethora of artists' portfolios likely without consent and used to generate prompted imagery.
the cover and music videos of mama's gun may be as intrinsic as the sound of the album to a lot of fans. in 25 years this'll be no different

People use AI to make their lives easier. Professional musicians can whip up a song like it's nothing, but that doesn't mean they can make a music video.

At the same time though, humans are more complex then that.
Not every person who experiments with AI will use it the way Timbaland is trying to.
I see your perspective, but until that bridge is crossed, I feel like it’s unfair to assume that anyone who messes around with it once, has sinister intention with it.
That's true but I mean we do not know any of these people on a personal level. We do not know their intentions or their philosophy. And if they start just uploading AI generated songs we won't know. So I'd rather just condemn it all then make exceptions

MaximusNgl I'm starting to be more lenient towards AI in art ONLY when it comes to making something that would be otherwise IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish
Example: eminem rapping thru an AI filter of young version of himself to deliver the intended creative purpose of slim shady vs eminem
whether or not that em album was good does not matter to this argument I still respect it despite the AI because it was for strictly creative and boundary breaking purposes.Meanwhile ye's ghostwriters AI vocals, timbo, and now this crap is just pure laziness or stinginess with the money to avoid paying an animator or an artist to design your art. This is unacceptable and also detrimental use of AI in art imo.

I think the best course of action is to create laws that regulate it usage. Not outright ban it, but have a disclaimer of its usage so the listener has a choice on if they want to support the product.
Basically like how fruits and veggies have labeling for GMOs vs organic.

Which makes me think it wasn’t his call. Took a quick scroll through his past few album release IG posts too and he always tags the artist for them and they’re all freelance artist people who he’s paid for their work. Would be odd for him to all of a sudden just not wanna do that
