Tbh people did always complain about Hov but Hov was also never the clear cut most popular rapper at any given point in his career.

You could argue drake has been nearly his entire career. People love to hate on who’s on top and like Lupe said listening to drizzy is an increasingly difficult litmus test for insecure people who aren’t crushing it in their own lives.

The other weird thing is that every time drake drops an album it sounds unlike anything else anyone is making and its always different from his last albums in structure, beat selection and flows. He re uses a lot of the same themes but a lot of great artists do that. His major theme is himself and it’s been exhilarating to watch that evolve in real time over the last ten years.

They continue to reach so hard, but it’s just not true. I wish them the best of luck proving that dumb narrative.
