I used to think like this and this def plays a part but it's also two other things.
1. Our favorites getting progressively worst
2. Subject matter either not evolving or being unfamiliar where it doesn't connect as much. (As they get richer they talk more about rich ppl s*** and less about what makes them similar to us)
Number 2 really is real man
There’s literally a thread to do that in
ktt2.com/drake-vs-kanye-thread-keep-the-albums-threads-clean-32494254
You don’t see any Drake fans going into the Donda thread spamming that CLB is selling 600k first week and how it’s outselling Donda
It’s masqueraded as a “discussion” when it’s really not and at that, there’s a specific thread to do that in
Not to mention the thread at the top of the music section about the exact thing he wants to discuss lol

Number 2 an underrated point
We honestly were SO spoiled growing up when we did. I mean you gotta think we were coming up in a sort of musical renaissance in that 2011-2015 time period and the quality of music in that time combined with the ages of a lot of us were made connecting with that music so easy and heavy. Not to say that there isn’t still quality music being pumped out, but I don’t think anyone would disagree that 2011-2015 was just…different for the musical landscape.
There was an unprecedented amount of talent that came up at a time where not only hip hop but music in general needed a shift. A combination of those two things and the fact that a lot of us were in a pivotal development stage of our lives just made that type of experience phenomenal. Right on the money man

Second point is so real. This is why people like Michael Jackson are timeless. Heal The World, Black and White - songs that he dropped even when he was the most sucessful musician of all time.
man
this album is actually fantastic i love it
listened to it almost all day yesterday and today it hits even more, liked it since the first listen but its growing on me so well
i really won i love both donda and clb

Plus r and b and pop could just resort back to a love song.
Jeezy can't do that. It's like we want that trap Jeezy but he hasn't trapped in decades lol.
kinda sad to see the amount of hate for this cause i think its really great
Not that many people are hating on it tbh but I'm not on social media so idk

Top 3 songs on it?

This is why Tupac was so important - I know he was hyprocitical sometimes but he made music for the people. And Jeezy ... idk man it's over

Obviously focusing the direction more to Drake specifically given the context but when he said “not too many parallels left in our lives” I think he’s being candid that his music really can’t resonate with us like it used to because he’s already made it to where he wanted to be. Moments from SFG, TML, TC, NWTS we saw a guy trying to make it and that’s something a lot of people can relate to

getting two albums you love back to back

That's why they say hip hop is a young man's game. The youth don't want to hear 444. They want to hear that young man s***.
That why it's gonna be interesting to see how Kendricks content is gonna resonate. A 32 year old man telling you something is different than a 24 years old telling you something that he is going through.

He could make music that continues to advance and resonate with us but he chooses not to and is detached
