And that’s where the “I want him to go back to NWTS/TC vibes” becomes an issue, those eras are synonymous to where he was at and the stories he had to tell THEN.
He’s in a totally different position and like you say, he’s far removed from those situations now.
We want him to put forth that real creative spirit again. He’s mostly playing it safe rn.
Nobody wants the nigga to struggle. You got that mixed up.

Ok, but what content are you looking for?
Drake just isn't as good as he was man. When he raps now and does his introspection thing you know you could get better rap from elsewhere. When he does RnB you know you could get better from elsewhere. Same thing with Afrobeats and Drill. He like a jack of all trades now

who does the introspective thing better for you? or those "light" R&B tracks like Race My Mind?
it's defo a step down from NWTS/Take Care but I just really don't think he has much competition in those areas

Nobody could make a Race My Mind like Drake

I guess it's a difference in opinion but he's never been more creative than now in my opinion. I could never hear Take Care era Drake on Scorpion or CLB production and if we did he may not have killed it like he has because he needed to improve his skill, pen and confidence which you can hear in him now compared to his older work.
His videos/artwork/branding is different (huge thanks to Director X and even if the emojis were controversial) he's really found himself now vs even on Take Care struggling to get out of Wayne's shadow. We're finally hearing Drake being himself 100% and he didn't lose success doing it.
Is @thankmelater okay?

Who's rapping like The Remorse? You don't get that from the new school Baby, Roddy, or Meg's and everyone else from Drake's class is washed or moved on from rapping. That's why Drake ain't falling off until someone new comes around rapping like that. I'd love to hear some suggestions though because mainstream rap isn't it right now. You might be right about R&B but he's still influenced the ones who are coming up so that's why people still check.

For introspection I'd rather listen to Kendrick or Cole even though people think he's boring. That new Andre 3000 verse for example, Drake has quite a number of introspective songs but very few are as good as that verse. Since Views I've always felt disconnected when he does deep rap most of the time so maybe it's me.
For RnB, I was talking more about Drake's voice when he sings that you could get better from elsewhere. i agree Race My Mind is a really good song but Chris Brown's voice for example on it imo would have made it even better
I don't know where you go to hear someone else rap like 7pm but that's elite rapping and rare in my opinion
Anybody any idea what significance the number 25 has in Champagne Poetry?
Apple deal I think?

100% I been sayin it before the album dropped like try to go into this album with no expectations.
Fans are married to a intro like Tuscan Leather or outro like Do Not Disturb, the moment they hear something that's different they are disappointed. I do understand them cause I've been there.
You gotta go into an album with 0 expectations and an open mind.
Feel like niggas go ghost whenever the “what do you want him to rap about” or “what do you want him to do” question gets asked
Drake should get a lean addiction or start selling crack tbh

Drake could still body the new and the old rappers that's for sure. Hes still a good rapper and killed some features this year. I'm talking when he raps introspective specifically like he thinking deep. I think it says more about rap nowadays if Drake's introspective rap is the best we can get

Agreed. I’ve been wanting him to “remake” NWTS since the day it dropped because that’s been the soundtrack to my life for a variety of reasons.
He’s not going there, he’s done with that phase and there are moments/vibes that none of us will recapture from that period.
Drizzy is in a different space, he's content, his music shows that but despite what “critics” have said, he’s not complacent. He’s mastered the craft and evolved his sound to where he’s at and it’s indicative of how we as fans have grown since then too.
PS - to say he’s not “hungry” anymore is BS, there’s a reason why nobody’s even coming close to challenging him
