Aug 31, 2021·1 replythegreatdivineI know. People can say album covers don't matter but they do. The covers for SFG, TC & NWTS are all iconic. Hell, even the cover for Comeback Season is. You can have them on vinyl placed in your house and people will immediately recognize them. The covers for Views and Scorpion are less iconic but at least they don't look horrible.
I don't know what changed. He clearly had a different vision for the album and it's visuals just based on that trailer but it's like now he's just rushing to put the album out and going with whatever.
Of course we'll still bump the music and that's what really matters but it's just disappointing to see that he pretty much phoned in the album cover when he really didn't have to. Especially for an album that he's spoken so highly about. I don't know.
2 years from now, we'll look at that cover and we'll all cringe.
I mean, the CLB cover is pretty strong iconography, it’s just…eh. Definitely doesn’t have that pizazz that SFG/TC/NWTS has so hopefully the music is so dope (and fitting to the cover itself) that it can recontextualize how we view the cover

It's corny because emojis probably won't even look like that in the next 5-10 years but the album cover will remain that way and anyone who sees it will know exactly what time it's from.
I don't need to understand Drake's reasoning behind that cover because nothing about that will validate him using that as the cover of an album.
