i honestly think it’s a combo of a few factors, 1 being the fact that a one year delay is gonna create higher expectations for the music so he’s prob trying to deliver on that, 2 being figuring out a way to roll it out. Also he’s potentially gonna want to have physicals ready to go to do the new box set bundles

OVO’s College-focused release schedule strategies were axed post IYRTITL imo (tc nwts fall semester iyrtitl spring) and they never gave him #s he needed till summer views.. mans owns the summer cuz that’s when the wholeee world tryna party not just college crowd “maximum value is the bigger picture” which includes being ‘in touch’ with all listeners and consumer bases, just my 2cents as to why he’s gonna try and keep summer release 🤷🏾‍♂️

When this rollout starts it will take certain people by surprise because it’s going to be big.. personally I think the reason it’s taking longer than usual is because drake has branded himself even further past just OVO (candle company, NOCTA, Chrome Hearts, etc.) and he’s trying to make sure all of those things are in a good spot and they all compliment the album. That takes serious work. I would love to see behind closed doors to see the amount of people that are involved in the marketing/branding. I’m sure it can even be overwhelming at times because there’s been so many moving parts. COVID certainly didn’t help the cause either.

I honestly think it’s a combination of working on the album to perfect it and gauging the industry at the moment. This one feels special, maybe he feels that even after everything he’s accomplished, he still feels like he has to prove to people what he’s about. He seemed a bit irritated at the thought of people thinking he doesn’t have classics, I think he’s deep in his bag and it’s about to be scary when we do hear it.
