Drake fans broke these days? 🤔
bieber did 30k with his last album, ariana 40k, pop artists normally sell more pures so I think 40k is a fair guess, maybe up to 60k
Only way I’m buying physical is if they album super special and he drops that vinyl . Art work also gotta be fire
Sales talk is so cringe lol. How about music talk? Lyrics? Production? Stories? Content? Hooks, sublminals?
Well because then it turns into opinions and preferences. It’s not a centralized discussion at that point.

Music isn't suppose to be centralized. The business of rap is ran by rich white ppl so who viewing things using tha lens.
Explain to me, using sales, why Drake liked Ratchet Happy Birthday enough to put on an album but not Summern16 lol..
Explain using sales how Scorpion is better than Take Care
Sales talk cant explain and replace the music discussing or even a good metrics for comparing quality.
The only ppl that should be obsessed with sales are the people who makes money off of that.

Social?
NWTS deserved an official vinyl release
Are you really comparing a surprise collection of leaks and demos to a never-before-heard Kanye West album?
I don’t think the content of the albums matter, it’s more so the promotion + rollout. Kanye’s album was promoted for longer but it was delayed time and time again. Drake’s was more or less a surprise release.

It does matter. A lot of people didnt check for Dark Lane because it has Demos in the title. Even Mal said this on the JBP

I was just explaining why people discuss sales tbh not taking a side. Because discussions of the things you mentioned is a circular argument of opinions and preferences.

I didn’t think about titles
so Kanye got the christian crowd + his own fans and drake has less than normal stuff because of the surprise release + demos in the name
At end of the day all that matters is the music itself is good
Since many people like to use DLDT as a reference point and act like it's numbers were so poor, DLDT is the bar for rappers now as far as I'm concerned. It also needs to be stated that it was a collection of leaks and demos Drake released as a surprise and with no bundles.
DLDT pulled 223K first week.
Notable hip-hop releases since then and their first week numbers (albums marked used bundles):
you niggaz don’t need to fall into the bait of the numbers game. drake going platinum first week in the streaming era says it all and it shows how no one can really mess with him numbers wise.
also dldt is a surprise demo tape and barely any rappers can do better numbers than it lol. cole had a whole album with two weeks of anticipation and still did worse to a few hours notice
The hearts, CLB and signature on the laptop😮 so much teasing these last few days… we are very close

It matters a lot. If people like an album, it's usually reflected in it's first week numbers and if not then, in it's subsequent weeks.
