Because music executives move the needle for what’s put out and when… lol you do realize this is a business and that’s how it works right? And they would never leak songs because that f***s with their money and they could lose their jobs. If you watched the video Akademiks states the executive is a fan of Drake but has been critical the past 7 months.

One thing I've noticed about Drake's career, is that he and his team have done a fantastic job of convincing his base that drake is above standard practices, and that despite him being a major label recording artist, that he exists outside of the ecosystem all together. It's funny lol

He didn't do that when he wasn't nearly as big of an artist as he is now but y'all think that an album that he just CONFIRMED that he's going to Toronto to complete and then mix/master and finish is being played to random industry people who don't like him.

YES. Artists as big as he is can do that lol. Taylor Swift made Folklore and her own record label didn't know about the album until 20 hours before she dropped it. She didn't even give them time to come up with a rollout/release plan. She told them 4 hours before announcing it on her social media channels so everyone found out 4 hours after her label did lol.

How do you think Beyoncè manages to keep all her releases hush hush? Yes, she has people sign NDAs but beyond that, very few people know what she's up to till she's ready to drop whatever she's been working on.

He has a LICENSING DEAL exclusively with UMG. He isn't signed to a standard music recording contract. He releases all his music on OVO Records and licenses it to UMG (through Republic Records) exclusively so they're the only ones who can market, promote and reproduce his songs, etc.
