so far 3 hours into this, cant stop absolutely love this game

most lynchian game ive ever played

man like me playing with volume on low during scary scenes

I look down when running in a straight line in dark places

a few months ago i decided i just need to man up and play great horror games

RE2 i tried playing 5 times everytime i was too scared, then a few months ago i finally decided its time to just man up and finished it, loved it same with re4

now this one, but this is easily the scariest out of the 3 scary-ish (re4 not scary at all tbh) games ive played

also dont think u really have to play part 1 to fully understand this, some ppl were even saying u need to play control, but i just watched a video and now i understand most of it

do think all the references would hit harder if u played all of them but this game just looked too good

it’s not necessary but it improves the experience because you pick up on all the small details

This is my first real horror game. Scariest ones before this were probably TLOU series.

It’s wild how different of an experience this game probably is depending on how many of Remedy’s prior games you’ve played.

Real talk, is Alan Wake 2 the longest survival horror game ever made? I’m 14 hours in and have just finished Return 4 (No Chance) and Initiation 5 (Room 665).

Starting the nursing home chapter and according to a chapter list of the game I found, I’m apparently maybe a little more than half way through, which is absolutely wild if true.

my first playthrough was 40 hours so yeah

but I did everything, hunted all the pages and evidence and words of power and echoes and stuff which aren’t necessary for platinum

I assume that was while exploring every nook and cranny?

Gonna get back into this, this weekend only thing I've done is beat Nightingale. Gotta crank up my 5.1 system too

Game is good, started strong, but it’s kinda dragging now and I’m losing interest a bit. Certain elements of the story have been either too predicable or too goofy for me to stay fully invested.

Still enjoying it overall

finally got more into this, im 5 hours in initiation chapter 2. really great may be one of the best games ever made.

my criticism so far is that the actual mechanical parts of the game could’ve been waaaay tighter. the openness of the level design in saga’s section (so far) is working against the combat system, much less of a problem in these subway tunnels though.

kind of an interesting bit of parallelism between this and silent hill. game is capitalizing on the resident evil formula. way more interesting story, but probably mechanically looser.

Enjoyed this but not as much as I thought I would. Story kinda fell apart for me in the third act and was overall disappointed with the ending. Gameplay was also very sluggish and tedious to me. World and creepy vibes were immaculate. Would still give it an easy 8.5/10.

Definitely sits behind Spider-Man 1-2 and TLOU 1-2 in my all time favorites but it’s for sure up there.
