    WESLEYS THEORY

Bro it wasn’t promo for 1 song

It was a recap of the whole era

You wanted one thing, he did another. The subversion of expectation was for others in general who expected the usual halftime formula.

The structure of the show and how it led up to NLU very much says something else, come on. Look I’m not s***ting on Kendrick as an overall artist or trying to cope that Drake secretly won. You don’t have to glaze him this hard, you can just defend him that he went all in on one song and that’s something you think was a good choice. I disagree and that’s fine but you don’t need to obsfucate your point

Drakes success predates Kenny by a couple of years

Drake started blowing up around 2009 and Kendrick started blowing up around 2012/2013

So in 2011, getting that co-sign from Drake definitely gave him a boost and some people for sure discovered him from Buried Alive.

By that same logic Game boosted Kendrick too with The City

Now that I think more about it, Kendrick had the opportunity to do something super left field and revolutionary. But he lost the plot trying to make Drake look bad.

How awesome couldn’t have been for him to perform Hiipower?

liberals | meaningless symbolism | “is this revolutionary?”

AK admitted he leaked the setlist...I predicted at the end of last year that someone’s gonna lay hands on him in 2025. Hope it happens and they don’t hold back and beat the shii outta him.

He didn’t leak it. He just wants that same buzz he had last year

I don’t agree with your point, period. That’s what I’m saying. It’s not glaze to say it wasn’t just one big ad for NLU. Because it wasn’t. There was some buildup for it in the show because everyone was waiting to see if he’d do it because of Drakes corny lawsuit, but that wasn’t THE ENTIRE SHOW. And if you think it was respectfully, it went over your head.

I think the difference is there's no choice but to take a holistic view of Kendrick's music because that's the only way he exposes himself to the masses. Yes he trolled Drake during the SB but he also played songs from DAMN and GNX so there's no real reason separate NLU from the rest of his discography. The Uncle Sam imagery alone gives casuals an idea of what Kendrick's music is about. They'll know he also includes politics in his music, even if he's also the beef guy. Snoop on the other hand ventured too far outside of the music with the weed stuff.

I think I half agree. I agree he’s more holistic in how he presents himself but I think he leaned too far in one direction post-beef to where it’s defining the era a bit much. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a victory lap btw, I just feel like he’s going a bit overboard such that it’s tipping the scale instead of it being a part of a wider era. Personally - and this is my bias - I don’t like that the defining part of this era is little white kids yelling not like us. Some people can take that as a sign of how hard Drake lost - and sure I think that’s true - but I think there’s also a double edged sword to it. Again, my personal opinion.

GNX will do more for Kendrick’s public profile with casuals than any other album.
