While I don’t think this was a top 5 halftime show oat or anything like that

Him smiling directly at the camera and saying Drakes name might be a top 5 halftime show moment

I think the performance will age very well.

In 10 years when kids who grew up with GNX being their introduction to Kendrick. Will see this performance and get that nostalgia we all wanted.

How does any of this preclude him from being the GKMC, TPAB and DAMN rapper

Most people watching are not clued into hip hop like that man come on. I understand the reigning theory around here is “normie listeners don’t matter to the culture” and I mean okay sure but is that not what the half time show represents? I agree Drake got f***ing demolished and the Super Bowl half time show extending the diss to him is a generational loss so this isn’t a cope about him or the beef. It’s that making arguably the biggest moment in your career about the beef has a material affect on how people view you - and I’m sorry but when normie listeners are courted en masse they do define your legacy. Look at Snoop.

He can do GNX songs and other songs too it’s not supposed to be one or the other, SP shows are usually a love letter to your career. I mean he did all the stars for example

Because he did that at the last SB he performed at.

  • Just imagine you’re a 14 year old who just learned about Kendrick through NLU. GNX will probably be there favorite album and in a decade they will look back at the performance and reminisce low key.

We suffer but I can see the method to the madness.

No money trees hurt though. I needed a live
    Rendition of money trees

If he didn’t perform NLU they would’ve said he was scared.

If he performed it they would say he is dragging it.

You can’t win with these niggas.

they already saying he dragging it
now niggas are saying he wasnt political enough i hate it here

Drakes co-sign and bringing him on tour definitely helped Kendrick, there’s no denying that.

But he wasn’t the only one who helped him and shouldn’t receive sole credit.

Tech N9ne did a lot to help put Kendrick on in the beginning and Dr. Dre ofc as well

Maybe it’s cause I’m old af and was in college when Section 80 and Take Care dropped, but I always just looked at Kendrick as coming up in the same class as Drake, just different labels. Never really saw Drake over him popularity wise at all, and always saw them as peers

Drakes success predates Kenny by a couple of years

Drake started blowing up around 2009 and Kendrick started blowing up around 2012/2013

So in 2011, getting that co-sign from Drake definitely gave him a boost and some people for sure discovered him from Buried Alive.

You didn't really answer my question lol. Yes NLU is Kendrick's biggest song but why is him being the NLU rapper mutually exclusive from him being the guy that made DAMN and TPAB? Anybody that takes a passing interest of him from NLU will also listen to those albums. Humble just went double diamond. GKMC is still charting on the top 100 albums if I'm not mistaken. Y'all are overreacting.

Drake’s co-sign didn’t make another single artist like Kendrick.

Dre co-signed at least gave us Eminem, 50, Snoop and Kendrick

It helped but the Yeezus tour help just as much in my opinion and we don’t give Kanye
    Credit for that.

As matter of fact Kendrick only started performing well after the Yeezus tour
