Drake didnt learn anything from the pusha beef somehow
Too egotistical. He got humbled the hard way.
Kendrick won not simply because he worked his narrative better (Which he did, you're right about that), but also he just a way, way better writer then Drake. Setting up the liar angle on Euphoria and then weaving through it on 6:16, MTG and finishing with NLU was masterful. Drake had a few good moments here and there in his songs, but he also remained unfocused when it mattered most. He was giving bars out to Rocky, Weeknd and Rick Ross when he should've been solely focused on delivering against Kendrick. He didn't take Kendrick seriously enough for whatever reason, and it cost him.
People underestimate how framing a narrative played a huge part in this beef. Across the four songs, dot made sure to paint drake as a liar at every turn before slinging mud of his own.

Only way up is to drop something on the level of nwts
He did hit some crazy pockets for sure. The ghost / AI bars were some of my favorites, that s*** was clever. I liked Drake's Mike/Prince flips a ton
They were terrible because on Family Matters he just randomly decided to be prince instead of sticking to his guns with the guy who’s glove he was literally wearing

It worked also because regardless of mud slinging, he did mix some truths in there.
Like Drake being exposed for ghostwriting and denying the existence of his child in the past for example. And on top of that, we've seen him have some pretty suspect behavior with Millie Bobby Brown and that concert with the 17 year old. So the preexisting links from prior to the battle and the way he weaved that into his work definitely set him apart when it came to the writing.
This narrative that Wayne should be entitled to perform because it’s his home town is mad weird to me.
This would not be a thing if wayne did not went on a 9 month media campaign where he expressed wanting to do it more than anything

I understand their frustration, but just because it's New Orleans doesn't mean someone from New Orleans has to perform. Only show that was centered around an artist performing in their hometown for the SB was Dr. Dre.
Besides, Wayne is either gonna get a huge nod or he will be a special guest with Kendrick. There's no way Kendrick doesn't acknowledge him when he idolized him.
Drizzy won round 2
No Round 2s

https://twitter.com/DailyLoud/status/1731799131931152789Wayne’s obviously a legend in his own right but like,
He had no transcendent residency right now, there is no historic tour, there are no smash records, and like these are facts
So genuinely curious what would even be the reasoning for him headlining the SB in 2024 over the likes of a Kendrick Lamar? Simply because he’s from New Orleans?
I don’t even think niggas even care for Lil Wayne like that in 2024 except online tbh

Can you actually imagine your job is to ride another man’s meat all day online

Dre, Usher, Justin Timberlake for examples fall in the same category. SB is not a rolling loud tier festival.

They do not fall in the same category man.
Usher’s my way residency literally transcended culture. Wayne is performing at State Fairs right now.
Dre was in conjunction with Snoop dogg which…it’s snoop, it speaks for itself wayne is not snoop dogg
Lil Wayne is not Justin Timberlake when it comes to pop sensibilities. Again, lil Wayne is performing in the middle of nowhere tryna get hot in 2024. You think JT would be performing at the Illinois state fair??? Really?
The argument for Wayne would make more sense if his discography aged better. He’s just not to THAT level of legendary / iconic

Wayne did same to rap.
Wayne would not be doing it solo. Would've been several guest appearances.
Wayne outsold JB by 200k in 2018 but ok
He's on tour like 30% of the year, the demand isn't there when you're available all of the time.
sigh look man, I am trying to give kudos to Kendrick without regurgitating all the same bullshit we've been spewing to each other for the last four months because it's all washed and exhausting
But I'll pull the thread because I take issue with "Only Drake fans pretend you could win a rap battle but not rap the best" -- that isn't pretending. Kendrick is widely considered to be the winner of their battle because NLU is everywhere. It's a catchy banger that everyone can and will sing along to, scathing insults included. You may believe that Kendrick rapped better than Drake (Family Matters / THP6) on NLU, but that is not the criterion that the masses are using to have declared Kendrick the winner
Kendrick is declared to have won because he controlled the moment and released an insulting banger, the same way Drake controlled the moment and released an insulting banger against Meek Mill with B2B. In that case Drake out-rapped Meek, but it really wasn't the point. Pusha won over Drake because he controlled the moment and revealed that Drake had a kid, not because he rapped better. Again, you could argue either way (I personally think the bars on Duppy Freestyle >>>> bars on Story of Adidon) but it really doesn't matter
“but that is not the criterion that the masses are using to have declared Kendrick the winner”
This narrative that Wayne should be entitled to perform because it’s his home town is mad weird to me.
The only negativity is coming from two camps:
1. Drake stans
2. Idiotic millennial Young Money/Lil Wayne stans who have zero clue how live performance works and think that Lil Wayne should be headlining a Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2024
Lil wayne should be headlining a 2024 superbowl show

To be clear I am not saying that Wayne would have been a bad choice he’s obv one of the greatest rappers ever
Just that…if he was remotely relevant in 2024 and there was demand for lil Wayne, he wouldn’t be on tour in the middle of nowhere with Selfish Sons and The Kid Laroi fam.
So there’s no present demand, and none of his back catalogue is being consumed in high quantities…how then, is he a formidable SB tier level act? He’s not even close, respectfully
Again dot just had one of the greatest tours of all time and on top of that has smash records right now along with an undisputed catalogue…Wayne is doing spot dates with Selfish sons
That tells you everything you need to know fr
Still don't think he out-rapped Drake in their battle, but god damn he played the public perception and appearance component of the moment perfectly
Think harder

Big Fax
The 1 on 1 happened the first weekend of May and we saw how it went down. If you need a reminder just circle Super Bowl Sunday on ya calendar
Kendrick fans reasoning is nonexistent
I didn't even mention those metro albums
But it was 1 on 1 haaaa
Big Fax
ISTG I’m not joking if niggas really cared about Wayne doing the SB they should have got that Nigga hot over the last 5 years
None of his features do anything except go viral on Twitter for a couple of days
And I’m not trolling, Buddy really is doing state fairs and performing in the middle of nowhere these days

Again obviously an all time great artist, but he’s not who hip hop culture says he is, all time wise. No one listens to his current music, his older music like C3, C4 is not being streamed at all relative to the other all time greats, and that’s just facts.
All time great but he’s ice cold right now and all time wise he’s not Hov/Pac/Big/Ye/Drake/Kendrick with the timeless discography so idk, I feel like the outrage is fake
