“Being original” wont solve anything lol.

1st of all what we think of as “original” most of the time isnt even that original from a mathematical point of view- it can be replicated by mashing together different styles or prompt words. For example you might think On Sight by Kanye or Yeezus in general was original but if AI was around someone far less “genius” could come up with no thinking, just typing “Daft Punk style synths on a rap tempo beat”. All originality is just reappropriating derivative concepts

2nd of all- it’s 10000x faster. In the time it takes you to produce 1 “original” song after 10 others you threw away, someone couldve generated ten thousand more. You can literally generate hundreds of variations without even changing the prompt and just pick out the best ones that wouldve took multiple trials and error to finish by hand

3rd- For that reason^ even people that claim to hate AI now will adopt at least some tools or be left behind and even if theyre a purist no one will care. The same way you can try your hardest to never use a computer program and hand-draw every frame like 1920s Disney but the consumers would still watch the better movie that was generated in 1 second over all the pain you took to be different

4th- inputs used and different models can approach “uniqueness” in art and I know because Ive generated hundreds of photography that could've never existed from humans just going out and using a camera. Let’s say even if DeathGrips made the most original out of this world song, a random with no talent can feed it to the AI as input and type “generate something similar to this style but slightly more ___”

I agree about this and wonder how it will work which is part of why I genuinely wanted a discussion

same way as samples it shoul donly be able to eat what it is fed

but I do see a situation where UMG has all its artist feed AI for use of any artist

Its gonna be a lot of mess in the next few years.

Part of the major artist catalog buyouts they been doing dropping Ms left and right is for AI, more than likely.

In the next 3 to 5 years AI will be ubiquitous in company usage (even outside of music). How ethical it will be depends on the law and the people themselves paying attention and caring enough about, like Make a Wish Foundation example in my other post that sued n won that got that that whole program legally shut down with a cease n desist plus a payout.

what programs are people using for AI music production nowadays? I havent played with it in years, are they still completely audio based or do they work with midi now?
