when it's all said and done, the artist will be judged purely on the merits of their art. it doesn't matter if they were in style, passe, etc. people a hundred years from now won't care about that. they'll be more interested in how the music sounds, as they should.

I disagree with that, I think they just have a lot of fans like Metallica, it doesn't make the band worse.
Dave's voice is pretty recognizeable. I don't know if they have truly classic albums with gems on top of gems, but they seem like pretty sincere guys playing 3 hour long gigs.

It’s hard for them to keep up with the new trends and modern legendary artist. Some, like Elton John or Paul McCartney, stay engaged. But if you’re like Simmons and haven’t paid attention you could easily miss what’s going on.
