Why’d he delete that comment tho
A rewatch solidifies this as a masterpiece. Knowing how it ends makes every scene more emotional and you pick up on so many hints. Aftersun and The Father are 2 movies with unmatched attention to detail in the way it’s filmed from the perspective of the protagonist.

The only good thing coming out from this movie.
Jokes aside, I think Mescal performance was definitely impressive
My favorite thing about the movie
Awesome screenplay
Just such specific nostalgic feelings
When a child is first discovering depression, and sex, and the unexplained anxiety of the world

Eighth Grade I could read a bunch more times. Dialogue is so real in that if you’re going for authentic awkwardness. I’d be down to read Superbad haha, classic

Eighth Grade been on my list to watch and still haven’t seen it yet. Good rec knew you’d provide some heat
And yeah Superbad I wanted to see how humor comes off on the page plus knowing the movie almost by heart it was fun to see the changes they made from script to scene

The scene when Calum thinks/realizes he’s passed down or just that Sophie has those same depressive thoughts and feelings that haunt him
Heartbreaking. My god

So many little things. When they’re in the mud bath and they’re talking about Cleopatra, Sophie says she thinks Cleopatra committed suicide. Collum asked her how she was so sure almost like worried if he were to kill himself she’d find out it was a suicide

Great display of how generational trauma/curses is passed down
