    Fear.

If you remember 2009. Drake went from the hottest backpack rapper along with Charles Hamilton to Young Money and going on tour with Wayne etc..

People turned on him cause everyone thought he was going to sell out and make bubblegum music.

Then came out the video of Best I Ever Had which was the opposite of what the song was and basicaly was t*** and nothing else and we were like damn. M

Then they wanted to rerelease SFG as an EP which made us all think that he’s ironically too far gone and that he was just going to sell out. On that cash grab he releases Fear where he discusses his fame and how fans like him till he blows up.

Made me realise no matter how commercial he can get he still has artistic integrity in tact.

I found out about Drake back when I was 9 because my older sisters were bumping Best I Ever Had and Find Your Love, I thought they were catchy and would sing along, after that I caught onto his more bigger hits when I was in middle school, songs like The Motto, HYFR, SFTB, and HOWGH.
My first year of high school, IYRTITL had dropped and I played it and hearing Legend, then did it hit me that Drake is the greatest.

Dreams Money Can Buy. I will always say it’s the song that turned me to a stan. I was a fan but TML wasn’t really it for me as it definitely felt more “commercial driven”. Once I heard the sample and the bars that followed I told myself this dude is going to be one of the greatest of all time because of how his bars came across so clear and concise

    This.

when i hit play on nothing was the same

  • The Winner - This song captivated my initial attention.

Headlines - Turned the doubters into believers. I remember people felt like they had to lowkey confess to me after this dropped, on some I didn’t think he could do it vibe. This will always be ‘the one’ to me. Take Care era was just perfect for my life at the time.

Tuscan Leather - Drake took over rap. Period. And I mean took over, no one else. Not Jay, not Kanye, not Kendrick etc.

Hotline Bling - His cross over, if you will. The King of Rap starts to find his footing in the mainstream pop market.

Gods Plan - King of Rap meet King of Pop. Probably my most played and favourite feel good Drake song. Vaulted him into another stratosphere as an artist, with no limits.
