I don’t remember any memes for Hello, not really a pop fan tho
Oh the Hello memes were everywhere
Cant even remember the last album with real cultural staying power. lots of albums with build-up and hype prior to drop but very few with the longevity that match the era of the industry prior. the current cultural zeitgeist is to consume as much as possible (as fast as possible), which isn't limited to just music. Its fashion, movies, food, memes etc. so naturally albums that "come and go" are a byproduct of that culture that wants to constantly move on to the next "it" thing. our attention spans are shrinking and the societal pressure to always be at the forefront and not wanting to feel fomo is a threat to how we consume things. Honestly it would be a great topic for a podcast cause you could go on and on about this s***.
That being said, its great how theres a growing movement towards sustainability, buying things that last a long time and consuming mindfully. For example, the shift in public opinion on fast fashion brands like h&m and zara which up until a couple years ago people didnt give a s*** about buying from.
After Hours?
wack ass s***
In his Breakfast Club interview earlier this year, he was talking about this whole "Outside" point yall keep bringing up and how stupid it is. Everyone has their own little bubbles and is in control of what they listen to pretty much everywhere they go, it's a dumb metric
Surprisingly great point from the grooming king.

Whole Lotta Red
Whole Lotta Red
lil b did the whole “my fanbase only liked the music ironically as a meme” thing better
For someone like Adele, this album was an abject failure.
I don't buy into what people are saying about how fragmented mainstream culture is either. Everyone in North America can probably name 3 or 4 Doja Cat songs right now

Yall take this s*** too personally lol. Who cares about that stuff. That doesn't make her album a failure when it's the most successful album of the year.
Doja would trade her year for Adele in a heartbeat
Spider-Man: No Way Home out now.
Literally half my co-workers were talking about it over the last week, and you gotta go to a theater to see it

O Rod did it
S*** is still #1 all around the world.
Highest selling album of the year.
If that album “came and went”, then you’d hate to see what that says about your favourite rapper’s album release this year.
Dangerous, Sour, Certified Lover Boy are the highest selling albums of the year in that order so far
Dangerous, Sour, Certified Lover Boy are the highest selling albums of the year in that order so far
Highest selling album first week.
And those album numbers are light work for 30 in the coming months.
Dangerous sold almost 3.091 million this year. Sour sold 2.69. CLB sold 1.85 million. Shoot for the Stars sold 1.47. F*** Love sold 1.44. And 30 is currently sitting at 1.43.
And anyone with any sense can see that Adele will have passed all of those albums in 6 months with her sales constantly holding like they always do.
So what are we talking about here?
Yeah streaming has completely ruined how people consume music
All albums come and go now.
Why ruined? If her singles were good I would have streamed them more than once... if it was so good that I played it like every week then I would probably want to own it too.
People still buy the albums they truly like in physical form. But that's only reserved for real good s*** now.
