What Tyler The Creator said b
Cant even remember the last album with real cultural staying power. lots of albums with build-up and hype prior to drop but very few with the longevity that match the era of the industry prior. the current cultural zeitgeist is to consume as much as possible (as fast as possible), which isn't limited to just music. Its fashion, movies, food, memes etc. so naturally albums that "come and go" are a byproduct of that culture that wants to constantly move on to the next "it" thing. our attention spans are shrinking and the societal pressure to always be at the forefront and not wanting to feel fomo is a threat to how we consume things. Honestly it would be a great topic for a podcast cause you could go on and on about this s***.
That being said, its great how theres a growing movement towards sustainability, buying things that last a long time and consuming mindfully. For example, the shift in public opinion on fast fashion brands like h&m and zara which up until a couple years ago people didnt give a s*** about buying from.
Spider-Man: No Way Home out now.
Literally half my co-workers were talking about it over the last week, and you gotta go to a theater to see it
when was this with an album tho

In his Breakfast Club interview earlier this year, he was talking about this whole "Outside" point yall keep bringing up and how stupid it is. Everyone has their own little bubbles and is in control of what they listen to pretty much everywhere they go, it's a dumb metric
I think we need to let that cultural impact stuff go in the 2020s
The web is making culture too fragmented to have 1 album really take over.
like that taylor swift album sold hella, yet nobody i know or around has even heard of it.
there is clear evidence that taylor fans boost her streams through streaming tactics to make her look much bigger than she actually is

Idk I saw stories from most girls I know listening to Taylor’s album
Y'all do this every f***ing time bro like it's not even annoying at this point. Or disappointing.
It's like a natural occurrence, I get the same reaction from these threads that you get when you see a dog taking a s***. Just gross indifference.

I kind of agree, but I would emphasize there’s no real evidence that the albums/songs themselves are inherently more “come and go” / “fast-food” or whatever, it’s just that our culture changed around the music/consumption as you said. People often use this argument to say music generally is Worse now, but that’s not true imo.

theres just more of her fans than us

I know you’re not comparing a blockbuster movie to an album lmao
theres just more of her fans than us
no im dead serious, im not saying compared to other fanbases
taylor fans are the ones best known for abusing streaming tactics to ensure higher appearances in the charts such as putting ongs on repeat as they sleep (along wth a lof of other pop stars like ari i think)
i actually did this as part of my theis and i found a few published articles on how chinese fans of kpop idols and cpop idols structure themselves in order to act on multiple fronts in order to perpetuate their favourite artists (if ur interested i can go through my notes to find the sources for these)
hip hop fans just dont really do this culturally

Yeah my bad for being unclear, when i said "come and go" albums it wasnt an indicator of quality of the content itself moreso a reflection of the behavior and relationship the consumer has with the album/art/product/content etc.

hip hop fans need to step up their game up then. instead of typing yb better under comments. run his numbers up some more till he does 300k first week

its toxic af and artificially inflates less worthy art that gains popularity from non-musical factors
i dont like it at all
Forgot it released. She took too long talking about it was "finna" drop
