i dont think this movie is trash but i also dont think its great. one of my biggest problems with the movie is how it makes this commentary on how people are more focused on entertainment and celebrities and s*** rather than things that are more concerning even though they have all these a-listers in the movie. i find it ironic that the movie insults the thing that made people partially interested in the movie to begin with. otherwise, the acting was mostly well done besides the ceo guy. i'd prolly give it a 5/10
Yeah Imma have to disagree but I feel you.
I find it more about the break down in communication from our social media climate rather than “celebrities bad” “entertainment bad”. I don’t thin McKay is saying any of those things are bad but rather how it’s affected our communication and our ability to have honest and sincere discourse about problems that face us regarding our climate. Which also pays a lot of homage to Dr. Strangelove as well.
I also don’t think it’s far fetched to say that the irony you are talking about is on purpose considering the way Netflix had rolled out the film. I think that form irony has actual value compared to a more institutional irony that says nothing and is ironic for ironic sake which has arguably plagued the social media climate and again, breaking down our communication.

U right but idk I wish it was written better than ”hey! what this artist did is blowing up social media right now hahaha”

For sure. The only movie I’ve ever seen social media not look corny and ridiculous was Spree. Mostly because Spree used it very well considering the movie was designed around it where as with DLU I felt that there was a lot going on already and it just felt some what lazy in that regards.

It’s just boring.
From the 30 min mark on it’s like iight do they survive or na because everything else was uninteresting
This is the End (movie) took a s*** and the fungus that grew off of it was this movie.
This Is The End was a way better “death to everyone” movie. Cleaver, hilarious, and dramatic.
Leo DiCaprio did a movie where he played a whiny b**** actor who got repeatedly typecast as a loser and then in his very next movie he played a whiny loser
Just finished watching.. this was terrible
Laughed like once or twice during the film.. very boring..
Leo just wanted the $30m bag
