It's crazy to see people panning Don't Look Up while gushing about Succession, because they're both Adam McKay stories that center on a similar critique. To me it seems like people either prefer one form to the other or flat out don't understand the stuff they consume.
I liked this movie and love succesion
But I can’t believe you can’t see the quality gap between these two things
Edit: oh I guess maybe you were making a joke, just this tweet
The meteor is climate change and we’re still not gonna do anything about it despite all the time we have to try and stop it.
Never had a “comedy” movie give me this much anxiety knowing that we’re in the warmup phase of our “meteor”.
Reason why I can’t watch this s***, makes my stomach churn thinking about it
Watched the first hour last night with a friend. Story has me interested but the pacing is just not great
There are def some parallels with succession but this is much campier and the writing isn’t even close to succession
movie was mids
am i the only one that feels like this movie was making fun of the left and the right side of the political spectrum?
It made fun of how stupid and self destructive we’ve all become as a species in 2021.
idk how much me adding my opinion into the void really does but for me i really enjoyed the movie
the only thing that kind of irks me is that the most impactful moment was when kate and doc leo (im bad with remembering names) both spot the comet with their own eyes. the way that whole scene is mapped out with the colors and the music choice along with the pressure that seeing this massive thing in the sky brings is really something else, not to mention timothee's character praying which also had that same kind of pressure. all around the scene viscerally feels good and i was more engaged with that moment than any other part of the movie even though like i said i liked the film overall
with all that mess being said, i can't help feeling like if you could stretch that one moment, with all those choices i was talking about making that scene what it was, out into two hours, what a crazy good movie that would be man
Gonna watch it with my girlfriend on Thursday and see
I’d give it a 7.5/10 was entertaining but don’t think I’d watch again. I laughed at a few of the jokes too.
It wasnt as bad as people make it to be but nothing special too.
Cool way to kill 2 hrs, cast carried (especially J Law)
This a cult classic for sure
No movie is a “cult” classic in the internet era
Is part of the metaphor also that there’s nothing reg citizens can really do to help the planet and It’s actually up to the “big boys” (corporations and govt) to do the right thing and save the planet.

Knock, Knock
BVS
all cult classics from the internet age
I can understand why Paramount passed on this. It would’ve bombed in theaters.
McKay said a lot of studios passed based on the ending alone
